Más Por Favor Taqueria y Tequila debuted in early 2020 as a beloved addition to Chinatown’s diverse food scene. Now nightlife veteran Ryan Labbe and his team have struck it again, with the new La Neta Cocina y Lounge, a modern take on the traditional Mexican in downtown Summerlin.
La Neta loosely translates to “the truth” in Spanish street slang. That’s right, because everything in this menu is about an authentic approach, with a few twists.
Chef Israel Castro runs the kitchen like a mad scientist, concocting delicious and monstrous dishes that are a feast for the eyes and your Instagram followers. His inventive BFTs (Big F’n Tacos) will impress, especially the “lobsta” taco, a ridiculously large lobster poached in butter with a cheese-stuffed tortilla wedged in between. Yes, they did.
You might consider the WTF ($ 175) for the table: four pounds of chili-braised short ribs, topped with Manchego polenta and green onions.
Mojo Shrimp ($ 32) is a line of garlic shrimp on a bed of creamy jalapeño polenta topped with chorizo, or opt for traditional enchiladas ($ 26) with a spicy rojo sauce or lobster enchiladas with chipotle cream. The cocktails are just as naughty. The avant-garde Whata Prickly ($ 15) refreshes the palate with ginger ale, prickly pear and gold flakes, while the Pom Azul ($ 17) swings between sweet and tangy thanks to the pomegranate. .
La Neta takes presentation seriously, from nicely stacked flautas ($ 15) to rock salt mounds cooked under Baja-style oysters ($ 24). The entire aesthetic is begging to be photographed, including the lush plants adorning the ceilings and a stained-glass mosaic wall mural lighting up behind the bar. It’s sexy, romantic and ready for a night out. It’s the truth.
