Fans of the orange drink trend cocktails are obsessed with this summer

Many of us made the most of the warmer weather by heading to a beer garden or enjoying drinks al fresco at home. From pints to Prosecco, nothing beats a drink in the glorious sunshine.

One drink that gets a lot of people in the summer mood is an orange cocktail. You normally see holidaymakers sipping an ice cold Aperol Spritz abroad, but it’s become popular here in the UK.

The Italian bitter appetizer is bright orange in color and, as you can imagine, very Instagrammable with millions of social media fans posting pictures of it online. In time for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, London-based independent distillery Doghouse Distillery has launched an orange spirit, and it’s available to buy now.

It’s a British take on Italian aperitifs and its signature service is a Brit Spritz – perfect for the upcoming bank holiday weekend. To make the bright cocktail, you’ll need Doppelgänger Aperitivo, strawberries, elderflower cordial, prosecco and club soda – then a slice of orange to garnish.

How to make an orange cocktail at home

  1. Pour 50 ml of Doppelgänger Aperitivo into a wine glass.
  2. Add a quartered strawberry.
  3. Fill with ice.
  4. Add 10 ml of elderflower cordial.
  5. Add 75ml of Prosecco.
  6. Top with club soda and stir.
  7. Garnish with a slice of orange.

The Doghouse range is available to purchase online at doghousedistillery.com.
